Decision Making GPS Coin

GPS Coin

Designer Ju-Wei Chen has come up with the Inbi-Out concept - a GPS
coin to make all your decisions. Kind of like a futuristic version of
these two existing decision makers.

The Inbi-Out coin tosses a 50/50 chance of where you should eat, drink,
hang out, etc.., and displays the final decision on a tiny embedded
screen complete with GPS coordinates and directions.

Powerful USB Mini Speakers from Grandmax

Grandmax USB Mini Speakers

Let’s stay on the tiny gadgets topic
with the brand new Grandmax Pull-n-Play Tweakers - a pair of portable
mini speakers that show “sound can come in small packages”.

The design and the way they work is quite similar to the USB Spring Speaker.

Give it a twist and the top portion expands, giving you extra air space
which brings out the bass. You’d have to hear it to believe it. For
speakers this size, it sure packs a punch.

Grandmax USB Mini Speakers

With built in lithium batteries, you can have hours and
hours of listening. And with the built-in retractable audio and charge
cables, there are no extra cables to bring around and no cable mess.
When you need to charge your tweakers, just pull the charge cable out,
and connect it to a mini USB, or use the included USB charge adapter to
connect to a USB port. The speakers come in dual speaker configuration
with stereo sound. They come in crimson red and black.

The Grandmax Pull-n-Play Tweakers mini speakers are available for $44.95.

2nd Gen OLPC “E-Book” Design Revealed
21 May 2008
It seems like just yesterday when the One Laptop Per Child program was announced, but it’s already been three years. At this point the organization, led by Nicholas Negroponte, is ready to introduce the design of the next generation of affordable laptops so that children around the world will have new opportunities to learn. Just yesterday at a media event at MIT, Negroponte unveiled the next-gen laptop and it sure is amazing. It’s being called XOXO or XO-2, but it isn’t expected until 2010 and they’re hoping they’ll be able to sell them at a price of $75.

The best way to describe it is that it looks like an E-book. It uses dual-touchscreens, and the screens they use are what you’d find in portable DVD players which helps keep the costs down. In a presentation yesterday, Negroponte said, “The reason you can have the audacity to do this is that the 16:9 displays on DVD players are so inexpensive that to anticipate them costing $20 each is not out of the question.”

An official press release gives us a better idea of what the XOXO is about:

Enhanced Book Experience - Dual-touch sensitive displays will be used to enhance the e-book experience, with a dual-mode display similar to the current XO laptop. The design provides a right and left page in vertical format, a hinged laptop in horizontal format, and a flat two-screen wide continuous surface that can be used in tablet mode. Younger children will be able to use simple keyboards to get going, and older children will be able to switch between keyboards customized for applications as well as for multiple languages.

Take a look at the images below. The thing looks pretty amazing, doesn’t it? What child anywhere in the world wouldn’t want the opportunity to use something like that to learn?

2010 isn’t THAT far away, do you think the organization will be able to pull off this neat concept and be able to meet their goal of selling it at $75?

Adobe Photoshop CS4 Stonehenge
18 May 2008

I was quite surprised today when I saw an email in my Inbox letting me know that Adobe Photoshop CS4 (codename Stonehenge 11.0) has been leaked. I checked some of the BitTorrent sites and it does indeed look like it is available to anyone that wishes to download it. From what I’ve read the Adobe CS3 serial numbers do not work so you’ll need an updated serial number to get it running, but doing so wouldn’t exactly be legal.

The person who sent me the tip wishes to remain anonymous, but they did let me know that they haven’t found anything new in the release thus far. The compilation date of this build is November 1st, 2007 meaning it is a little dated already, and it was likely an early release sent out to key testers. Rumors have it that this build of Photoshop CS4 only contains Vista compatibility fixes, and not really anything else.

Lucky for you the tipster was kind enough to attach a screenshot of Adobe Photoshop CS4 running in XP with the new splash screen:

There is no word on a release date at this point, but in the past Adobe has released new versions of their Creative Suite every 18 to 24 months. That would mean Adobe CS4 will be available somewhere between October 2008 and April 2009.
